About

A budgeting app for people whose money doesn’t fit a tidy box.

OutBudget exists because finances spread across multiple currencies, accounts, and years deserve a tool that thinks the way they actually work — forward, not backward.

Why we built this

We started OutBudget because we couldn’t find a budgeting app that worked for the way we actually live — paychecks in one currency, rent in another, savings in a third, and a calendar of expenses that didn’t fit into a tidy month. Every existing tool either ignored multi-currency entirely, treated it as an afterthought, or forced us into a model we didn’t believe in.

The bigger frustration was the time horizon. The interesting questions about money are almost never did I overspend last week. They’re am I on track for the next few years — and most apps just don’t answer that. So we built one that does.

OutBudget is developed in the open, with early users shaping what gets built next on the public roadmap.

What we believe

  • Plan first. Track second.

Knowing what to spend matters more than recording what you spent. The forecast is the primary surface; everything else makes it more honest over time.

  • The unit is the assumption, not the category.

Recurring items — salary, rent, the once-a-year insurance bill — are first-class. Categories exist to group, not to drive.

  • Your data is yours.

We don’t sell it, share it, or train models on it. CSV export is one click away, always. If you leave, you take everything with you.

  • Simple beats clever.

OutBudget will say no to features that look impressive but make the model harder to reason about. The forecast you can’t explain is the one you stop trusting.
